Vacation Apartment - Quiet Luxury

A peaceful corner of Miami, Sunny Isles Beach is fast becoming a chic destination for unobstructed ocean and city views and the locale’s barefoot luxury approach.

This airy high-rise home connects with the surrounding environment with a design that balances modern elements and natural materials, inspired by the locale: the golden sun, sandy beach, soothing white tones to open the space and focus on the seascape.

The concept of this 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment envisions an environment where wood is the main character. Using architectural lighting and a muted color palette creates a harmonious space with a tranquil effect to connect with the client’s vision.

While not their primary residence, the clients wanted the space to feel like home when they are there, with ample room for their young child to play and all could rest. Challenged with opening up the space to feel larger and more welcoming, Studio Rodrigo Buelvas designed an illuminated interior with architectural and natural lighting that bathes pleasant social rooms with soft, soothing light.

Applying a personalized approach to finishes and material selections, focusing on construction details and spatial functions aligned with the owner’s lifestyle, we created space where the owners can pause and find peace and relaxation.

Great communication was achieved in connecting the social spaces such as the living area, kitchen and dining room, using natural light as a protagonist to make the apartment appear much larger and lighter.

Before the renovation, the apartment felt small and dark inside with walls blocking the views of the ocean outside. By opening up the connection between the social gathering areas and introducing natural light and warm interior finishes, the entire home feels like a breath of fresh air with beautiful views of the sea from the moment you enter the front door.

In corridors and bedrooms, the integration of rift oak wood veneers with cove lighting create warmth. Bathrooms in marble, warm lighting and modern fixtures establish the room as a calm, restful place with special elements.

Thinking strategically about structural support placement, which walls could and should be removed to open up the space, relocating some electrical components, and strategic lighting concepts, allowed us to create better circulation and a great experience within a seemingly small apartment. The apartment’s elevated, modern design is a warm, welcoming place where the owners can be comfortable, relax and take in the calming ocean views.
